hmm... As for me, I don't think that it left any impression on me. I wouldn't recommend it to anyone, but it wasn't so bad that I would go out of my way to tell people how I disliked it. I feel that the story its self wasn't so bad, but reading it was just too much of a hassle.
I love stories, so I read a lot of genre, but what I like the most are a little more realistic stories. Of course I love Harry Potter as much as the next person, but I like the books in the "Young Readers" genre which is aimed more for kids around the age of 14. It's pretty embarrassing, but they are fast, easy reads with usually cute stories that are easy to understand. One book in particular that I call my favorite book (as of now) is "Thirteen Reasons Why" which is about teens in high school, peer pressure, the hardships of being a teenager and suicide. Some classic books I like in English that I read in school are "The Catcher in the Rye", "Great Gatsby", "Fahrenheit 451" which I read in 11th grade in high school. Even though "The Giver" and "Holes" are generally aimed towards elementary school and middle schoolers, these are still two of my favorite books of all time.I haven't read any of these books in Japanese, but if I could find a copy (especially of "The Giver" and "Thirteen Reasons Why") I would gladly buy them and read them.Even though I say I like "realistic" books, I'm a sucker for romance. I love stories about bittersweet romance, 運命 and 恩返し. I like a lot of stories that are sad or so sweet that it can make me cry. haha.
